Elflein reduces CO2 emissions by an impressive 23% within one year

Mission accomplished: 23% less CO² emissions within 12 months. With this reduction, Elflein is underlining its leadership role in the logistics sector, as a resource-oriented and efficient company, and an impressive milestone in Elflein's sustainability strategy has been achieved. The basis for this calculation is CO2 emissions in kilograms per kilometer traveled.

This significant reduction is the result of a consistent commitment to sustainable and efficient logistics. Key measures include investment in e-trucks, continuous evaluation and implementation of alternative fuels, and more efficient route and process planning. These successes once again underline Elflein's role as a pioneer in the transport and logistics sector and illustrate how environmental awareness and economic efficiency go hand in hand.

For Rüdiger Elflein, resource efficiency has been a central component of the company's DNA for decades: “The milestone achieved is further proof that sustainability is not an option but a necessity.”

The proof of Elflein's pioneering role goes hand in hand with various measures:

  • Expansion of the bio-LNG fleet: By investing in 40 more LNG-powered vehicles and switching from fossil to BIO-LNG, Elflein was able to take a big step towards sustainability in 2024. 20% of our own fleet is already powered by BIO-LNG — a significant step towards environmentally friendly transport.
  • Using HVO in daily use: After initial successful tests in 2023, nature-based fuels could be used regularly at the company's own filling stations from mid-2024. HVO-based fuels now account for around 15% of total monthly diesel consumption.
  • E-trucks for an emission-free future: Elflein put four e-trucks into operation in 2024 and plans to increase the number to up to twelve units by the end of 2025. “We will continue to drive forward the continuous expansion of our e-truck fleet in 2025 and we stand behind it with full conviction,” says Marco Schubert, e-mobility manager at Elflein. The concept here involves a mix of in-house infrastructure, public charging facilities and customer support. Customer-specific e-mobility concepts are developed in accordance with individual transport framework conditions.
  • Joint development of ecological concepts with customers: Together with future-oriented Elflein customers, innovative transport and process concepts were developed and implemented in 2024. This also improves the environmental balance of Elflein customers. “Our partnerships with customers are based on a common goal: to develop innovative and sustainable solutions that protect the environment and can be effectively implemented in practice at the same time. This is how we design future-oriented logistics that combines ecological responsibility and economic efficiency,” says Stefanie Kotschenreuther, managing director of Elflein.

“Innovative technologies and environmentally friendly solutions will continue to be the focus of our daily work in order to contribute to a climate-friendly future together with our customers,” says Rüdiger Elflein. “In doing so, we are assuming our responsibility towards future generations and continuing to live up to our pioneering role in transport and logistics. ”
