ELFLEIN Reduces CO₂ Emissions by an Impressive 23% Within One Year

Mission accomplished: ELFLEIN has reduced its CO₂ emissions by an impressive 23% within just 12 months. With this achievement, ELFLEIN once again underlines its leading role in the logistics industry as a resource-efficient and sustainability-focused company. The reduction marks another important milestone in the company’s long-term sustainability strategy. The calculation is based on CO₂ emissions measured in kilograms per kilometer traveled.

This significant reduction is the result of a consistent commitment to sustainable and efficient logistics solutions. Key measures include investments in e-trucks, the continuous evaluation and implementation of alternative fuels, and increasingly efficient route and process planning. These achievements once again highlight ELFLEIN’s pioneering role in the transport and logistics sector and demonstrate that environmental responsibility and economic efficiency can go hand in hand.

For Rüdiger Elflein, resource efficiency has been a core part of the company’s DNA for decades: “The milestone we have achieved is further proof that sustainability is not an option, but a necessity.”

The proof of Elflein's pioneering role goes hand in hand with various measures:

  • Expansion of the bio-LNG fleet: By investing in 40 additional LNG-powered vehicles and switching from fossil LNG to BIO-LNG, ELFLEIN made another major step toward sustainability in 2024. Already, 20% of the company’s own fleet is powered by BIO-LNG — a significant contribution to more environmentally friendly transport operations.
  • Use of HVO Fuel in Daily Operations: Following successful initial trials in 2023, HVO-based fuels have been regularly used at the company’s own filling stations since mid-2024. Today, HVO fuels account for around 15% of total monthly diesel consumption.
  • E-trucks for an emission-free future: ELFLEIN puts four e-trucks into operation in 2024 and plans to expand the fleet to up to twelve vehicles by the end of 2025. “We will continue to consistently expand our e-truck fleet in 2025, and we are fully committed to this path,” says Marco Schubert, eMobility Manager at ELFLEIN. The company’s approach combines in-house charging infrastructure, public charging solutions, and customer-supported charging concepts. Tailored e-mobility solutions are developed according to individual transport requirements and operational conditions.
  • Developing Sustainable Concepts Together with Customers: In collaboration with forward-thinking customers, ELFLEIN developed and implemented innovative transport and process concepts throughout 2024. These initiatives not only improved ELFLEIN’s environmental footprint but also helped customers enhance their own sustainability performance. “Our partnerships with customers are built on a shared goal: developing innovative and sustainable solutions that both protect the environment and can be effectively implemented in practice. This is how we create future-oriented logistics solutions that combine ecological responsibility with economic efficiency.” says Stefanie Kotschenreuther, Managing Director of ELFLEIN.

“Innovative technologies and environmentally friendly solutions will continue to be at the center of our daily work as we contribute to a climate-friendly future together with our customers,” adds Rüdiger Elflein. “In doing so, we are taking responsibility for future generations and continuing to live up to our pioneering role in transport and logistics.”
