Mit dem symbolischen Spatenstich hat die Elflein Gruppe am 03. Juni 2026 den offiziellen Startschuss für das neue Bauprojekt Elflein Zero Emission Transport Unit in Obertraubling gegeben. Der neue Standort ist ein weiterer wichtiger Schritt auf dem Weg zu einer zukunftsorientierten und emissionsarmen Transportlogistik.

Gemeinsam mit Tobias Gotthardt, Staatssekretär im Bayerischen Staatsministerium für Wirtschaft, Landesentwicklung und Energie, Tanja Schweiger, Landrätin des Landkreises Regensburg, dem Abgeordneten des bayerischen Landtages, Patrick Grossmann, Simon Wagner, Bürgermeister der Gemeinde Obertraubling, Rüdiger Elflein, Geschäftsführender Gesellschafter der Elflein Gruppe, sowie Matthias Kienbaum, Geschäftsführer der Matthias Kienbaum GmbH, wurde der symbolische Spatenstich gesetzt und damit der Start des Bauprojekts gefeiert.

Electrification in heavy-duty transport has reached a decisive turning point. This is shown by the current P3 Energy Excellence Report 2025, the most comprehensive market survey on fleet electrification in German-speaking countries.

In this context, Elflein was awarded the Silver Badge, confirming its role as one of the companies actively driving this transformation.

Elflein was awarded the VerkehrsRundschau Innovation Award 2026 in the environmental protection category. The Award Ceremony took place as part of the VerkehrsRundschau gala in Munich, which was held this year on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the VerkehrsRundschau.

With the construction of our new Elflein Zero Emission Logistics Unit we are sending a strong signal for sustainable logistics on Hafenstraße in Bamberg. A future-oriented logistics facility is being built on an existing commercial site and will operate entirely without fossil fuels. This brownfield development protects valuable land resources while making efficient use of existing infrastructure.

In a recent article published by the Deutsche Verkehrs-Zeitung (DVZ), Rüdiger Elflein and Stefanie Kotschenreuther discuss key topics shaping the future — from strategic direction to clearly defined sustainability goals.

Sustainability as a core business principle

One of the central topics is the integration of sustainable logistics solutions across all areas of the company. Elflein recognized the importance of resource-efficient transport technologies at an early stage. Today, we operate more than 80 LNG trucks and 11 electric trucks — and our fleet continues to grow. In addition, Elflein is expanding its own charging infrastructure and is consistently investing in bio-LNG, HVO fuel and photovoltaic systems at its logistics locations.

The long-term goal is clearly defined: All transport operations should be emission-free by 2037 at the latest. The warehouse locations are expected to achieve this target even earlier.

Responsibility beyond day-to-day business

In the interview, Rüdiger Elflein underlines the corporate responsibility associated with climate change and clarifies: “We must act today in order to remain economically and socially successful tomorrow. ”
